These are the strings that form our unique pearls of life.

Pearls of Hope

What Love Can Accomplish

Welcome and thank the head table, dignitaries, friends of American Village and my personal friends …...for giving your gift of time and money to support The American Village and my works.

This Pearls of Hope book has these pearls you see on the table in the back to help you with building your own unique Pearls of Life!

I like to use the metaphor of the Pearl that takes a speck of Grit inside an oyster shell through irritations to form a beautiful pearl. Much like our life’s we all go through irritations to find our purpose driven life.

The Pearls concept was a seed planted into me as a young girl by my Grandmother Alice and Minnie Mae Hood Presley. They draped their Pearls over their Bibles.

In College I began to think about the different color of pearls and after college over 50 years ago I began my own advertising agency near Birmingham close to Jasper and in Daphne, Al near Mobile and Fairhope, Al. This idea was in my mind and then the opportunity arose for me to use my marketing tools to turn it into story telling as tools for life skills.

Life Pearls

These are the strings that form our own unique pearls of life.

Psalms 51:10- Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

  • White Pearls (Starting Over)

1 John 1:19 – Discussion Topic:  Understanding God’s love through silence

At age 65 I got a second chance because of my tools for life through my Women of True Grit Brand that began 20 years ago Brig General Wilma Vaught (Women’s Memorial, FedEx global women and then to do this last piece of Edie Hand’s Women of True Grit to give more women voices through books, TV, Radio, Podcasts, and social media. Helping others not feel alone with life challenges this season has brought new passions and working with HS Teens, to college young people to community leaders.

Become it better listeners. I found all the women I interview have in common is their Faith.

  • Yellow Pearls (Stains Aren’t Forever)

2nd Corinthians 5:17 - We stop evaluating others and once you become a Christian you become a new person the old life is gone and a new one begins.

I trusted someone with my work retirement funds and it was a bad choice.

I may have lost a lot of money but I did not lose my tools.

We grieve but as a Christian you can move on.

At 4:07 on this particular morning I got a call from a young attorney and she left a stirring message of how I was not myself at lunch and God would not let her rest

So, she wanted to share a story about Girls with Swords.  Just so happened (tell story of my sword) the bad choice turned my hard thing into a tool to find a more beautiful outcome in my life.

    Discussion Topic: bad choices

  • Pink Pearls (Live, Laugh, Love)

Psalms 145:21 I will Praise the Lord, and everyone on earth will bless his holy name forever and forever

Discussion Topic: Edie’s Phyllis Diller Stories – Love with Acts of Kindness

  • Silver Pearls (Pearls of Wisdom)

James 1:15 – 17.   These evil desires lead to evil actions and evil actions lead to death.

So do not be misled, my dear brothers and sisters.  What ever is good and perfect comes from God above of all heaven’s lights.

Rides Through Life about curves and mud holes and the book of the velveteen rabbit

  • Purple Pearls (Passion and Perseverance)

1 John 5:4-5 For what ever is born of God over comes the world ...our Faith.

Who is he who overcomes the world. But he who believes that Jesus is the son of God.

Mentor in college was a leader to me Gladys Sheppard who’s took me to NY to see the Lion in Winter starring Katherine Hepburn …. I knew great leaders and extraordinary talents was not enough, it was on our relationships with others. In our personal lives and our spiritual lives.

  • Blue Pearls (Courage/Allowing to Trust)

Mark 11:25 and whenever you stand praying. If you have anything against anyone, forgive home, that your father in heaven may also forgive you.

Circle of trust gets smaller as we age.

    Philippians 4:19

And my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

My son Linc is a working actor in LA but he gets a lot of no’s before he gets a yes.

His tool is discipline of the mind in fitness, what he eats and his walking through fears to have the courage to believe his next big gig is coming. A form of Faith in who we are…...You are your business.

  • Black Pearls (Beauty in Dark Places)

Psalms 90:12 Teach us to make the most of our time so we can grow in Wisdom.

  • Gold Pearls (Standing the Test of Time)

    Psalms 62: 5 through 8

    Read from my Bible

You see we need the sword at all times because the demons come for our mind. For me since I would never have thought I would be alone at this season to say I am not needed or strong enough to keep going I never thought I would survive 4 different cancers but I see I matter to share women’s and girls’ voices through my works.

My tool is self talk and reading God’s word.

Be a warrior like Debora in the Bible (read paragraph)

Lift your sword up. Put your pearls on; know you got these Pearls of Hope to form your unique life of purpose.

Define PEARL:  P -Person, E-Eternally, A-Altered by God, R-redeem, L-love   - Discussion: think about what love and forgiveness has accomplished for you…

Remember you can not control life’s events but you can control how you respond to them and know you too can-do hard things.

    Thank you.

  • Teal Pearls (Mental and Physical Well Being)
