Mission of The  Edie Hand Foundation is to help people and communities in need to make life better for others Edie understands great loss after losing her 3 young brothers in separate tragic situations from ages of 19,23 and 46.The Blackburn boys lives cut short changed her path and life works to have empathy to help the broken know they are not alone. Edie Hand is the founder and international author of Women of True Grit, a sisterhood and community stemmed from The Edie Hand Foundation that takes stories and turns them into empowerment for women to succeed in business and in life. The Edie Hand Foundation started over fifteen years ago in honor of her three young Blackburn brothers she lost too soon. Having gone through irritations such as loss, grief, illness, and set-backs Edie exemplifies “True Grit” and has built a movement transforming challenges into Pearls of Hope.



GRIT stands for “Great Resilience Is Transformative” and Edie is passionate and devoted to supporting women and providing them the tools to do hard things and turn them into beautiful situations. The message she shares is not heart warming, its heart moving and aims to build strength in whichever audience is listening and encourage them to know they are not alone in facing their hardships with “Pearls On, Swords Up!”


Residing in Birmingham Alabama and having worked as an entrepreneur in an advertising agency for 30 years, a media personality, filmmaker, philanthropist, a mom, and speaker personality, Edie has a wealth of skills and life experiences that have made her a force to be reckoned with in the business world. She has authored or collaborated on over twenty-five books. She is a sought-after speaker around the world with decades of keynote speaking experience at events, conferences, community centers, churches, and educational entities.

  • Edie partnered with Sinclair Broadcasting and ABC 33/40 of Birmingham, Alabama to share Women of True Grit Vignettes in 2022
  • Edie has expanded her Women of True Grit brand with Gray Television/WAFF48 of Huntsville for 2024
  • She has partnered globally with FedEx to share stories of women who have been led by hard work into powerful leadership roles.
  • In November 2022, Edie partnered with women at NASA and aired a Women of True Grit documentary available on demand on Alabama Public Television’s Network
  • She has stared in National Commercials, daytime television soaps and hosted national TV programs
  • She partnered with her Hollywood actor/businessman son, Linc Hand to form Hand N Hand Entertainment and continues writing for film, television, radio and podcasts
  • Music is a huge part of her heritage and execution of anything she does coming from a family of songwriters, actors and musicians in the Hood-Hacker-Presley Family. Her legendary cousin was Elvis Presley and she learned first-hand the importance of nurturing charities in one’s community.
  • Edie is an alumnus of the University of North Alabama and a founding student member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority in Florence Alabama. She currently resides near Birmingham, Alabama, but her heart is in Hollywood, California, with her only son actor, Linc Hand, and his wife, Victoria Renee Hand, a singer-songwriter.
